KIWANIS CLUB OF TRYON SPONSORED ORGANIZATIONS & PROGRAMS
Terrific Kids:
The Club sponsors Terrific Kids at three local schools - Polk Central, Sunnyview, and Tryon. Each month during the school year, children in each class are recognized with a Terrific Kids certificate, pencil and bumper sticker. Club members Marianne Carruth and Edith Bond coordinate this program.
The first picture is of the pre-kindergarten students at Polk Central who were chosen as Terrific Kids for September 2013. The principal, Dottie Kinlaw, is shown with them. The second picture shows the Terrific Kids who marched in the Super Saturday parade.
Key Club:
The Club sponsors a Key Club at Polk County High School. With approximately 50 members, the Key Club works on several community service projects each year as well as having fundraisers. Kiwanis Club member Cam Lawrence is the liaison with the Key Club and Advisor.
The Tryon Kiwanis Club also awards four to six $1,000 scholarships each year to graduating seniors who are members of the Key Club.

Aktion Club is the only service club for adults with disabilities, with more than 12,000 members worldwide.
The Kiwanis Club of Tryon sponsors the Polk County Aktion Club.

Mission:T o provide adults living with disabilities an opportunity to develop initiative, leadership skills and to serve their communities.
